An instructional challenge through problem solving for physics teacher candidates

چکیده
The teaching of science, especially at pre-college and teacher education levels has undergone tremendous transformation over the years: from teacher-centred transmission to student-centred approaches rooted in constructivism. Whereas constructivism has been charged with all manner of shortfalls, it still can be of benefit to the way physics instructions are organized and implemented. In this paper, the importance of learners’ prior knowledge in understanding physics concepts is discussed. This study comprised a case of two cohorts of physics teacher candidates who had strong content knowledge of physics, but lacked pedagogical knowledge as demonstrated by their struggles to implement appropriate Asia-Pacific Forum on Science Learning and Teaching, Volume 10, Issue 1, Article 1, p.2 (Jun., 2009) Samson Madera NASHON & David ANDERSON & Wendy S. The case cohorts we used as exemplars to underscore the importance of learners’ prior mathematical knowledge. Further, we focus on implications for pre-service teacher preparation, and the effects mathematical tool-choice can bear on students’ conceptions.

Infusing Cognitive Science Content in Teacher Preparation
Surprisingly, foundational knowledge about cognitive science (CS) is not included in all teacher preparation programs or required for certification in all states. Here, I examine the impact of infusing CS content into teachercandidates’ coursework by providing half of the pedagogy instructors with professional development on big ideas in CS (memory/attention/transfer/problem solving/practice/ex...

Abstract: This research has been done to develop and validate an instructional design model based on mental model theory. Based on mental model theory human being can do reasoning and problem solving through mental models. The main purpose of this model is to help pupils construct mental models, gain expertise and promote problem solving. In order to develop this model and response to research ...

Introduction: Due to development of educational systems and importance of education in the nursing profession, the necessity of using appropriate instructional methods for new theoretical and practical skills in students is clear. The purpose of this study is comparing the effects of three methods lecture, problem solving, and computer-assisted self learning on the drug calculation skill on thi...
